Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cake {Recipe}

Here is a super easy, but incredibly elegant cake you can do with no decorating supplies except for a spatula!

What you need:

For the cake:
1 box chocolate cake mix
1 can cherry pie filling
1 egg

To decorate:
2-3 cups buttercream icing 
6 oz. semisweet chocolate
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
6-10 Marachino cherries (removed from the jar and dried on a paper towel)
