pink hair IS BACK!

Diposting oleh good reading on Rabu, 11 Desember 2013

HAIR TRENDSETTER, SIENNA MILLER, IS BRINGING BACK PINK HAIR...
well, rose-gold-pink-peach hair!
She showed off her new hair colour at the 2013 British Fashion Awards last week and it's been trending ever since. The new colour isn't about bleaching and dyeing your hair a solid state of pink; now, it's all about the tint, it's reminiscent of 'the fade'.

to copy-cat: You could ask your colourist about going pink-gold-peach or you could try Kevin.Murphy's COLOR.BUG {which is available at Mana}, it's wipe on, wipe off colour! With a towel draped around your shoulders to protect your clothes, apply your styling hair product and then the COLOR.BUG to make it stick. The COLOR.BUG adds body to hair, you can keep this raw texture or add a fine mist of hairspray to lock on the colour.

the perfect hair colour TO ENHANCE YOUR COMPLEXION

Diposting oleh good reading on Selasa, 13 Agustus 2013

THE RIGHT HAIR COLOUR CAN REALLY ENHANCE YOUR COMPLEXION...
and the trick to getting it 'spot on' is to first determine your skin tone.
An easy way to do this is to see which type of jewellery flatters you the most, here's how:

 * If you have a warm skin tone, gold jewellery looks best on you. Stick to tawny hair hues like honey blond, violet-based browns, and other rich, warm colours.

 * Alternately, if you have a cool complexion, silver jewellery is more flattering on you. To balance your skin's undertones, opt for blue-based blondes, chestnut browns, or a dark espresso shade.

how to get your DREAM HAIR COLOUR

Diposting oleh good reading on Minggu, 23 Juni 2013

Learn how to communicate with your stylist...
The most reliable way to make your hair-colour wishes clear to us (your hairdresser) is to bring in a picture of what you're envisioning.

But understand that's just a jumping-off point—your colourist will (and should) tailor the colour to your complexion. And don't try to use 'hairdresser talk'. Instead, describe what you want as if you were telling a friend ("natural-looking highlights that aren't too stripey," for example).

And another tip: always let them know what you don't want!

NECSUS #3 The GREEN Issue

Frame grab from Shrek 2 (Andrew Adamson, Kelly Asbury and Conrad Vernon, 2004). Read Brady Hammond's article in the new issue of NECSUS, which explores 'green skin' in contemporary Hollywood cinema

Things have been a little busy in Film Studies For Free's offline universe and so rather quiet in its online one. But it's back with an ecologically sound bang, in the form of some updates about excellent, recent, open access journal issues.

First up is Issue 3 of NECSUS, the European Journal of Media Studies. Its last issue touched on 'Tangibility’. This time round its focus is on ‘"Greenness" in a broader pallet of media-related issues, from sustainable media production to the use of the colour green in a variety of films.'

WE'RE LOVING ANNE HATHAWAY'S NEW BLONDE HAIR...
which she debuted last week at the MET Ball!
'It's temporary,' she told reporters on the red carpet. 'But as soon as I did it, I thought I didn't want it to be temporary any longer. I know I have to dye it back for my work.'

If you're thinking about going this blonde, here are a few things to consider...

Don't rush it. First and foremost, is not to move up the colour spectrum too quickly. If you go too light, too fast, your hair can get dry and damaged, which isn't pretty regardless of your hair colour. You may need several visits to the salon to get the shade you're looking for. So be patient, heed your colourist's advice, and move at the pace they recommend.

Take a picture. This makes it much easier for your stylist to understand what you want and to tailor the colour to your particular hair and skin tone.

Get dirty. Make sure you haven't washed your hair the day you go to the salon. Having a little buildup of oil will create a natural barrier on your scalp, and will make it more comfortable for you when getting colour, especially if you are lightening up your base colour drastically.

Don't try this at home. Don't try going blonde by yourself, especially if you're starting with a dark base - give your colourist a call to make an appointment.

If you're thinking about going blonde, give Mana a call (02) 8919 0146 to make an appointment.

how to stop your COLOUR FROM FADING

Diposting oleh good reading on Minggu, 05 Mei 2013

YOU CAN'T STOP YOUR HAIR COLOUR FROM FADING - BUT YOU CAN SLOW IT DOWN!
So if you've coloured your hair, or have gone 'darker' like Reese did at the beginning of the month {she did it for a movie role} - here's how to keep you hair looking vibrant and glossy:

* Don’t shampoo for at least a day after you colour. From then on, wash only every two to three days.

* Stick to shampoos and conditioners made for colour-treated hair - these products are designed to keep the hair shafts closed, and that keeps colour in.

* Be wary of volumising products - they can open the hair’s cuticles, releasing the colour inside and causing fading.

* Protect hair from the sun with a hat or a colour-protecting styling product.

* Salt water and chlorine can fade your shade, too, so create a barrier by wetting hair with fresh water, then applying conditioner. Hair acts like a sponge - if it’s wet, it can’t absorb
{the chlorine or the salt water} and will fade less.

* Keep hair healthy by minimising the damage of heat styling and using a regular conditioning treatment.

If your skin is olive, choose cool shades like cherry red, icy blonde or golden brown.

If you have pale skin, stick to rich tones like chocolate brown, caramel or beigey blonde.

If your skin has honey undertones, go for copper, rust, reddish brown, golden browns or honey-blonde shades.

If you have coppery dark skin, go for auburn, golden-brown or black hues.

2012's most-requested HAIR TRENDS

Diposting oleh good reading on Minggu, 09 Desember 2012

TAKE A VISUAL CUE FROM 2012'S MOST-REQUESTED CELEBRITY HAIR COLOURS AND CUTS...
Brunettes will continue to rock the ombre trend into 2013 - think Jessica Biel's rose gold tips; it's a look for all seasons.
Karlie Kloss' low-manetenance cut looks great on all hair types. This choppy style adds volume to thinner strands while the long layers make coarse hair more manageable.
Gwyneth Paltrow's classic, coveted locks will never go out of style. Blondes continue to follow Gwyneth's lead by requesting a honey-golden hue.
Emma Stone's signature auburn locks are one of the most desired shades in Hollywood. Redheads will ring in the New Year with intense, vibrant reds - this look fits with all skin tones.
Blake Lively’s bronzy blond mane is the perfect complement to her tawny complexion and one of LA's most requested shades. If you’re olive, don't go too beige or ashy as it can make skin
and hair the same colour and look sallow.
Anne Hathaway's layered short cut is popular for those looking for a short, natural colored 'do with lots of shine.
