the best FRINGE for your FACE SHAPE

Diposting oleh good reading on Minggu, 31 Maret 2013

WANTING TO GET A FRINGE?
The first thing to take into consideration is your face shape, then match up your perfect fringe style,
here's how:

Heart Face Shapes:A heart shape face has a cheek area that is slightly wider than the hairline and finishes with a prominent chin. Heart shaped faces look great with sideswept bangs that vary on the shorter side. This helps draw attention away from the more prominent chin and up to the framed eyes.

Round Face Shapes: A round face shape is about equal in width and length and doesn't have pronounced corners. A side-swept look will look great on this face shape. Try keeping the bangs longer on the sides while blending it into your hair helps soften the cheek bones. A blunt bang can work for this shape if they're a little longer, adding length to the face.

Oval Face Shapes:An oval face shape is typically 3 parts long to 2 parts wide. In other words, the width of your face is about 1/3 less than the length of your face. There are also no major corners on an oval face shape. This shape has a lot more options when it comes to bangs. They look the best a little longer and a little thicker, grazing over the eyebrows. If your hair in thinner, then face framing bangs that can be swept to the side work great too.

Square Face Shapes:A square face shape is usually proportional in length and width with a strong jaw line, broad forehead, and square chin. For women with a square face shape, longer, eye-grazing bangs work best when they are thin and layered. Anything short and blunt will make the face look too boxy.

HAVING A SLIGHTLY CURVED/CURLED FRINGE...
is a softer and easier way to wear your hair rather than the dead straight blunt fringe.
INSIDER TRICK: Use a flat iron and give a little bend by curving the iron right at the bottom.

frizz-free FRINGE

ZOOEY DESCHANEL ROCKS THE HEAVY FRINGE...
To ensure your fringe is red carpet-ready like Zooey’s, work a small dab of smoothing serum into them while they are still wet, then blow-dry straight with a vented or round brush. While it may be tempting to dry the rest of your hair before tackling your fringe, try reversing the order instead.

By starting with the front pieces of hair, you’ll get a better idea of how your style will look right away, letting your bangs act as almost a guide for the rest of your strands. Lock in the sleek texture by giving your fringe a quick pass with a flat iron, making sure to bend the ends inward for slight, natural-looking movement.

the best FRINGE FOR YOU

IF YOU'RE TOYING WITH THE IDEA OF GETTING A FRINGE...
here's some inside info that will make your decision a success...

If you have a SQUARE FACE {like Nicole Richie}:
WHY A FRINGE WORKS: A long, eye-grazing fringe that is tapered on the sides can add a soft element to square face shapes.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: A heavy fringe like this needs to hit the right place, otherwise, it can easily overwhelm your face. Ask your stylist to snip your fringe just below the brows, leaving the heaviest pieces on the sides so they don’t mask your eyes. The centre strands can be feathery as a little forehead peeking through is ideal.

If you have a ROUND FACE:
WHY FRINGE WORKS: A gently arching fringe can compliment soft, feminine features.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: A fringe can make a circular face appear even fuller, so the right cut is key. Request a graphic, curved shape, which will flatter your bone structure—and be sure the fringe is thick. Wispy versions won't have the same impact.

If you have a HEART-SHAPED FACE { like Reese Witherspoon}:
WHY FRINGE WORKS: A heart-shaped face can be a little top heavy so a sideswept fringe can have a balancing effect and draw the attention down and towards the eyes.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: A layered, feathered fringe. The shortest pieces should hit the arch of your eyebrows; the longest should meet the outer corners of your eyes.

If you have an OVAL FACE:
WHY FRINGE WORKS: Nearly any fringe works with an oval-shaped face, but these airy, pin-straight ones accentuate the prettiest parts of the face without feeling bulky.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: Ask for a fringe that hits between the brow and the eyelash and is longer on the edges - that way, you can wear them swept aside or straight with a middle part.

If you have a HIGH FOREHEAD {like Claudia Schiffer}:
WHY FRINGE WORKS: A swingy fringe like this has a two-fold effect: The thickness works to conceal the forehead while the gradual angle opens and widens the face.

WHAT TO ASK FOR: A heavy sideswept fringe that start in the centre of the forehead and tapers diagonally to a cheek-grazing length. Be advised: This fringe starts behind your natural hairline, but that's okay. Because it's so substantial, you'll need the extra weight.

tips for A BADLY BEHAVED FRINGE

Diposting oleh good reading on Minggu, 22 April 2012

SOMETIME A FRINGE {OR BANGS} CAN HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN ~
here's how to get it back under control...

 1. Get ‘em while they’re wet. You have to blow dry your bangs straight out of the shower! It’s a must. The minute they start drying on their own, you’re no longer the boss. Dry them, then get dressed, then come back and finish your hair.

 2. Dry shampoo before your bangs get dirty. After you blow your hair out, or even if you’re an air-dryer, blast them with a little dry shampoo while they’re freshly clean. This way, the oils never even get a chance to come out and flatten or cause separation.

 3. If you blow dry, direct bangs the opposite way you want them to go first. Then blow them to your normal side. This keeps them from laying too flat on your forehead. If you like to wear them straight down, brush them to the left and to the right while blow drying, then blow and brush them straight down. That will help control any annoying cowlicks.

 4. Go easy on product. It’s best to stick to dry shampoo and maybe a little hairspray when dealing with bangs (unless you have really curly hair and you need a straightening product). The more product you use, the more product gets on your forehead and can often cause break-outs. Eek!

 5. Lightly flat iron a small top layer of your fringe for shine and smoothness. Don’t flat iron all of the hair because it can get stringy. Just doing the little bit on top allows your bangs to look full, but stay smooth.

hair trend: THE INDIE FRINGE

Diposting oleh good reading on Rabu, 18 April 2012

WHAT DISTINGUISHES ONE FRINGE FROM ANOTHER HAS A LOT TO DO WITH ATTITUDE...
and getting the perfect cut!

In 2012 there are several ways to wear your fringe and the Indie fringe is one of the big trends. Messy, scruffy even if you will, but in that devil-may-care way that looks like you’ve perpetually just rolled out of bed. It’s youthful, carefree with a grungy edge.

Here's how to wear and style the Indie Fringe...

* This style works best if your hair is straight, or a bit wavy.

* Slight waves can add to the tousle of the look, but anything more will require regular straightening, so only make the cut if you’re prepared to spend time styling it.

* The thicker the fringe the better. If your hair is thin consider that the fringe will have to be quite deep (i.e. start from far back on the crown) in order to achieve thickness.

* Don’t go for wispy layers – as with fringes generally in 2012, a blunt cut is best.

* Length-wise you want below the eyebrows or just sweeping the eyes. The rest of the hair can be bobbed or long – the key is just to keep it relatively straight but tousled.

* Use a texturising product to get that messy effect even on cleanly washed hair.

* For a styling variation messily curtain the hair from the centre sweeping out.
